Another Monday Morning

The last Monday morning of 2008. This year has flown by so quickly, with so many things happening, changes...the time has swiftly passed. It makes you wonder what 2009 has in store for us. I pray the changes are helpful and not harmful. I know, as I grow older, I listen more and more for the Trumpet of the Lord and look for Him coming in the air, as scripture promises.

Today is my busiest work day, plus I have laundry that needs to be done and I still have my Christmas decorations to take down and pack away for another year. Sometimes I wonder why I bother, no one enjoys them but us. Our children are all too busy with their lives to come home for Christmas, we always end up going to them instead....but I don't want to have a pity party this morning, it's far too early for that.

I thought I'd share a New Year's Prayer with you all this morning:

Lord, let this year be filled with the things that are truly good—with the comfort of warmth in our relationships, with the strength to help those who need our help and the humility and openness to accept help from others. As we make our resolutions for the year ahead, let us go forward with great hope that all things can be Possible—with Your help and guidance."

Dear Lord, please give me…
A few friends who understand me and remain my friends;
A work to do which has real value,
Without which the world would be the poorer;
A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be not blazed;
An understanding heart;
A sense of humor;
Time for quiet, silent meditation;
A feeling of the presence of God;
The patience to wait for the coming of these things,
With the wisdom to recognize them when they come.
Amen.
